Greater Sudbury Welcomes Delegation from Russia

They City of Greater Sudbury welcomed a delegation of 24 mining executives from Russia on September 11 and 12 2019. The delegation included representatives from top companies including Norilsk Nickel, Alrosa, Nordgold, and Uralkali.  With the assistance of City Economic Development staff, the delegation toured Greater Sudbury and visited local businesses and organizations including the NORCAT Test Mine and Innovation Centre, HARD-LINE, Maestro Digital Mine, Laurentian University, MINECAT and Jannatec Technologies. The delegation also had the opportunity to connect with the Vale Innovation Team to learn more about technology innovations for mining and best practices around training and change management.

On the delegations final evening, Mayor Brian Bigger joined the group along with some City Economic Development staff and business leaders for a networking cruise on the William Ramsey.

Since the beginning of 2019, the City of Greater Sudbury has hosted delegations from nine different countries including Greenland, Finland, Denmark, Australia, Indonesia, Peru, Colombia, Chile and Russia.
