Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation

The Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC) can support your film or television production in Greater Sudbury with their funding programs. Funding is available based on your project’s spending in Northern Ontario and its opportunities for employment for residents in our community.

Ontario Film and Television Tax Credit

The Ontario Film and Television Tax Credit (OFTTC) is a refundable tax credit that can help you with labour costs during your Ontario production.

Ontario Production Services Tax Credit

If your film or television production qualifies, the Ontario Production Services Tax Credit (OPSTC) is a refundable tax credit to help with Ontario labour and other production expenditures.

Ontario Computer Animation and Special Effects Tax Credit

The Ontario Computer Animation and Special Effects (OCASE) Tax Credit is a refundable tax credit that helps you offset the cost of computer animation and special effects. You can claim the OCASE Tax Credit on eligible costs in addition to the OFTTC or OPSTC.

Canadian Film or Video Production Tax Credit

The Canadian Film or Video Production Tax Credit (CPTC) provides eligible productions with a fully refundable tax credit, available at a rate of 25 per cent of the qualified labour expenditure.

Jointly administered by the Canadian Audio-Visual Certification Office (CAVCO) and the Canada Revenue Agency, the CPTC encourages the creation of Canadian film and television programming and the development of an active domestic independent production sector.

MAPPED Funding

CION’s Media Arts Production: Practiced, Employed, Developed (MAPPED) program is a production assistance fund, designed to help film and television producers provide on the job training to Northern Ontario residents looking to work in the industry. MAPPED seeks to supplement existing funding sources in order to hire and train emerging film and television workers by providing partial funding for Northern Ontario crew trainees to a maximum of $10,000 per production.
