The 35th edition of Cinéfest Sudbury International Film Festival kicks off at SilverCity Sudbury this Saturday, September 16 and runs until Sunday, September 24. Greater Sudbury has a lot to celebrate at this year’s festival!
Zombie Town Premieres September 1
Zombie Town, which shot in Greater Sudbury last summer, is set to premiere in theatres across the country on September 1st!
Two New Productions Filming in Sudbury
A feature film and documentary series are setting up to film in Greater Sudbury this month. The feature film Orah is produced by Amos Adetuyi, a Nigerian/Canadian and Sudbury-born filmmaker. He is the Executive Producer of the CBC series Diggstown, and produced Café Daughter, which shot in Sudbury earlier in 2022. The production will be filming from earlier to mid-November.
Pre-production has begun this week on Zombie Town
Pre-production has begun this week on Zombie Town, a film based on a novel by R.L Stine, featuring Dan Aykroyd, directed by Peter Lepeniotis and produced by John Gillespie from Trimuse Entertainment, shooting in August and September 2022. This is the second film Trimuse has produced in Greater Sudbury, the other being 2017’s the Curse of Buckout Road.
32 Organizations Benefit from Grants to Support Local Arts and Culture
The City of Greater Sudbury, through the 2021 Greater Sudbury Arts and Culture Grant program, awarded $532,554 to 32 recipients in support of the artistic, cultural and creative expression of local residents and groups.
Citizens Invited to Apply for Appointment to Arts and Culture Project Grant Jury
The City of Greater Sudbury is seeking three citizen volunteers to evaluate applications and recommend funding allocations for special or one-time activities that will support the local arts and culture community in 2021.
