Greater Sudbury Development Corporation Seeks Members for Tourism Development Committee

The Greater Sudbury Development Corporation (GSDC), a not-for-profit board charged with championing economic development in the City of Greater Sudbury, is seeking engaged citizens for appointment to its Tourism Development Committee.

The Tourism Development Committee works as a Sub-Committee of the Board to provide advice, recommendations, information and expertise to the GSDC Board on planning, decision making and strengthening support for the city’s tourism sector.

We are currently seeking citizens from the Arts & Culture sector (1) and from the Culinary sector (1).

Community members who are interested in applying are invited to submit their resume and cover letter to [email protected] by 4 p.m. on Friday, April 30, 2021.

The GSDC nomination process endeavours to recruit residents of Greater Sudbury with experience and expertise to achieve goals related to growth of the local tourism sector.

Nominations are in accordance with the GSDC Diversity Statement and the City of Greater Sudbury Diversity Policy that support diversity in all of its forms, including but not limited to age, disability, economic circumstance, marital status, ethnicity, gender, gender identity and gender expression, race, religion, and sexual orientation. Consideration is given to demographic and geographic representation of the City of Greater Sudbury.

The Tourism Development Committee meets once a month, starting at 1:00 pm., for approximately 2 hours. Appointments are one-year terms.  All meetings are currently virtual in accordance with local and provincial health guidelines.

About the Greater Sudbury Development Corporation:

The Greater Sudbury Development Corporation (GSDC) is a not-for-profit agency of the City of Greater Sudbury and is governed by an 18-member Board of Directors. The GSDC collaborates with the City to promote community economic development by encouraging, facilitating and supporting community strategic planning and increasing self-reliance, investment and job creation in Greater Sudbury.

The GSDC oversees a $1 million Community Economic Development Fund through funds received from the City of Greater Sudbury. They are also responsible for overseeing the distribution of the Arts and Culture Grants and the Tourism Development Fund through the Tourism Development Committee. Through these funds they support the economic growth and sustainability of our community.
