Fall 2024 is gearing up to be extremely busy for film in Greater Sudbury. With several networking opportunities for film professionals to build their careers and a lineup of events to pique the interest of film buffs of all stripes, you won’t want to miss out!
Cinefest Sudbury International Film Festival 2024 – Sept. 14-22

Cinephiles can expect some of the finest in International Cinema, as well as several Northern films, including Rêver en Néon and 40 Acreswhich both filmed in Greater Sudbury.
In addition to the festival, the third edition of Cinema Summit will take place September 18 to 22, featuring industry workshops, panels, events and access to film screenings. Sudbury Indie Creature Kon (SICK) – Sept. 27, 28

The third edition of northern Ontario’s premiere horror festival and convention will be expanding its offerings this year with more screenings, more panels and more vendors.
There will be plenty to keep horror fans engaged, and film professionals will be able to meet some of the top and emerging names in Canadian genre film.
Sudbury’s Tiny Underground Film Festival (STUFF) – Oct. 5

Focused on low-budget, artist-driven cinema, STUFF is a showcase of unique short films from around the globe and from our own backyard.
This year’s festival will see the addition of a Rough Cuts program, where northern filmmakers can screen unfinished works as well as an industry panel and social mixer.
The City of Greater Sudbury is proud to support Cinefest, SICK and the Sudbury Indie Cinema. Festivals like these provide an outlet for our local film scene, and we are delighted to have local filmmakers working together to build a more resilient industry at the grassroots level.
