Greater Sudbury Development Corporation Seeks Board Members

Do you know or are you a local community member who would be a great addition to the Greater Sudbury Development Corporation?

The Greater Sudbury Development Corporation, a not-for-profit board, is seeking engaged residents for appointment to its Board of Directors.

The GSDC nomination process endeavours to recruit residents of Greater Sudbury with experience and expertise to achieve goals related to local economic drivers for growth: tourism, entrepreneurship, mining supply and services, advanced education, research and innovation, health services expertise and arts and culture.

Nominations are in accordance with the GSDC Diversity Statement and the City of Greater Sudbury Diversity Policy that support diversity in all of its forms, including but not limited to age, disability, economic circumstance, marital status, ethnicity, gender, gender identity and gender expression, race, religion, and sexual orientation. Consideration is given to demographic and geographic representation of the City of Greater Sudbury.

Community members who are interested in community economic development are invited to submit their resume and cover letter to [email protected] by noon on Friday, April 12, 2024

Working with the Director of Economic Development, the GSDC Board of Directors maintain a focus on economic development and provide oversight for several significant funding programs including the Community Economic Development Fund, the Tourism Development Fund and the Greater Sudbury Arts & Culture Grant Program.

The GSDC Board of Directors meets once a month, beginning at 11:30 a.m., for approximately 1.5 to 2.5 hours. Appointments are three-year terms and members are encouraged to take part in one or more of several committees focused on evaluating front-line economic development projects. All meetings are held in-person and virtually. The objectives of both the Greater Sudbury Innovation Blueprint and the Greater Sudbury Strategic Plan 2019-2027 provide guidance for the work of the board.
