The Economic Development division of the City of Greater Sudbury is focused on growing the local economy by supporting our local businesses, attracting investment opportunities, and promoting export opportunities. We assist in attracting and retaining workers to support our businesses with their workforce development needs.
Through our Regional Business Centre we are supporting small business, entrepreneurs and start-ups to further grow our economy and make Sudbury an incredible place to live, work and do business. Our tourism and culture team work to promote Sudbury and also support the local arts and culture sector, including the film industry.
The Greater Sudbury Development Corporation (GSDC) is a not-for-profit agency of the City of Greater Sudbury and is governed by an 18-member Board of Directors. The GSDC oversees a $1 million Community Economic Development (C.E.D.) Fund through funds received from the City of Greater Sudbury. They are also responsible for overseeing the distribution of the Arts and Culture Grants and the Tourism Development Fund through the Tourism Development Committee. Through these funds they support the economic growth and sustainability of our community.
