About the Conference

The 2024 OECD Conference of Mining Regions and Cities was held from October 8th -11th, 2024 in Greater Sudbury, Canada.

The 2024 conference gathered stakeholders from across the public and private sectors, academia, civil society organizations, and Indigenous representatives to discuss well-being in mining regions, focused on two pillars:

Partnering for sustained development in mining regions
Future-proofing regional mineral supply for the energy transition

There was a dedicated focus on Indigenous rights-holders in mining regions, with a call to action expected to be released in the coming weeks.
